BEREC Analysis of the European Commission legislative proposal for a Gigabit Infrastructure Act

On 23 February 2023 the European Commission published a proposal for the Gigabit Infrastructure Act (GIA) that aims to overcome the challenge of slow and costly deployment of the underlying physical infrastructure sustaining advanced Gigabit networks. Its objective is to reduce ‘red tape' and the costs and administrative burden associated with the deployment of Gigabit networks. BEREC prepared an analysis of the EC legislative proposal for a GIA based on the BEREC Opinion on the revision of the BCRD published in March 2021.
