Workshop on geographical survey methodologies - draft BEREC Guidelines on Geographical surveys of network deployments

Event Date: 22 October 2019
Event Location: Brussels, Belgium

The guidelines on Geographic Surveys of the reach of electronic communications networks capable of delivering broadband referred to by Article 22 of the new EU Electronic Communications Code (EECC) aim to increase regulatory certainty and the reliability of geographical surveys in line with relevant EU and Member States regulatory domains. The designation of areas foreseen in Article 22 (2) and 22 (4) will also increase the chances for investment in areas not previously covered by market players with very high capacity networks.

In order to explore further the insights on the forthcoming Guidelines, the EC and BEREC are organizing a dedicated workshop to take place on Tuesday 22 October 2019 in the premises of the European Commission in Brussels (Berlaymont building, room Walter Hallstein).

The workshop mainly aims to provide an important input to BEREC’s tasks regarding the development of guidelines to assist NRAs and/or OCAs on the consistent implementation of their obligations under article 22 of the EECC. Telecom associations/operator input is crucial to the development of these guidelines, as operators will be the ones to feed in with data the different national initiatives. The draft guidelines are currently under public consultation and can be found here.

The workshop is divided in two sessions – a morning session, which is subject to participation by invitation only and an afternoon session, which is open to the public. The envisaged agenda for the afternoon session is provided below:
