Management change at the Agency for Support for BEREC as Director László Ignéczi leaves
Starting on 1 April 2024, the leadership of BEREC Office changed as former Director László Ignéczi reached the end of his maximum term. During his tenure, Mr Ignéczi has made significant contributions to ensuring the efficient operation of BEREC Office and establishing an excellent collaborative relationship with the local authorities. He has also worked tirelessly to promote the presence of the only EU Agency in Latvia and raise awareness about its mission. The Management Board (MB) of the Agency and all BEREC Office staff express their gratitude to Mr Ignéczi for his decade of dedicated service.
Upon his departure, Mr Ignéczi thanked his colleagues for the fruitful and successful collaboration over the past 10 years. He expressed his confidence that they would continue to provide excellent support to BEREC in the future.
The Management Board appoints the BEREC Office Director through a transparent selection process that prioritises merit, administrative and budgetary skills, and relevant experience with electronic communications networks and services. The Director holds a five-year term of office, which may be extended for an additional five years, but only once. The new Director of the BEREC Office is expected to take up duties from 1 July 2024. For the period until 30 June 2024, the Management Board has appointed the current Head of the Programme Management Unit, Mr Panos Karaminas, as Director ad interim of the Agency.
