Katia Marcantonio

National Regulatory Authority for Electronic Communication, Media and Postal Services - Italy

Dr. Katia Marcantonio is an expert in law and economics with deep experience in regulating network industries and digital ecosystems. She currently advises the Italian National Regulatory Authority for electronic communication, media and postal services (AGCOM) on complex regulatory issues related to the evolution of digital ecosystems and artificial intelligence. Her career includes key roles in private legal firms, at the UK Financial Services Authority (now FCA), the Italian Antitrust Authority (AGCM), and Italy’s energy and gas regulator (ARERA), as well as a three-year secondment to the Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications (BEREC) Office in Riga, supporting several BEREC Working Groups. She has played an active drafting role in key working groups within the Radio Spectrum Policy Group and BEREC.

Katia holds a PhD in regulation of network industries, a Master’s in Regulation from the London School of Economics, and has studied EU law at King’s College London and Katholieke Universiteit Leuven. Her contributions to academia and research include numerous publications on network industries and platform regulation. She is also actively engaged in academic research and teaching, with publications on platform regulation and courses taught at leading institutions, including Politecnico di Milano and the University of Bologna.
