BEREC events 2023

On 14 December 2023, BEREC held its last public debriefing of 2023 online. The BEREC Chair, Prof. Kostas Masselos (EETT, Greece), and several Working Group Co-chairs presented the documents approved at the latest Board of Regulators ordinary meetings. The BEREC Chairmanship from EETT, Greece was handed to HAKOM, Croatia. 

Topics and adopted documents

During the public debriefing, the Working Group Co-chairs introduced the audience to the following documents launched for public consultations:  

• Draft BEREC Report on the authorisation-related framework for international connectivity infrastructures;
• Draft BEREC Report on empowering end-users through environmental transparency on digital products and services;

At the online event, the Co-chairs also presented two studies that BEREC commissioned this year:

• Study on evolution of competition dynamics of tower and access infrastructure companies not directly providing retail services;
• Study on the trends and policy/regulatory challenges of cloudification, virtualisation and softwarisation in telecommunications;

The incoming BEREC Chair, Tonko Obuljen (HAKOM, Croatia), presented the adopted BEREC Work Programme 2024, and the Co-chairs of the Cybersecurity Working Group provided insights into the BEREC Report on the Current Cybersecurity Challenges and Dependencies in Electronic Communication Networks.
