Further development of the Internet of Things is a central task with implications not only for economy but also for society in general

A special session on the digital economy, organized by AMCham EU was held on 17 March 2016 in Brussels as part of “the Transatlantic Conference  2016”. The BEREC Chair Wilhelm Eschweiler took part in a panel discussion on so-called 4th Industrial Revolution: The Internet of Things and key policy challenges across the Atlantic.

During the discussion the BEREC Chair emphasized, that the further development of the Internet of Things is a central task with implications not only for economy but also for society in general. Against this background  he stressed the vital importance to have an enabling policy framework in place to unleash the potential economic and social benefits of applications for business and consumers.

Wilhelm Eschweiler also informed the participants in some more detail about the BEREC report on enabling the Internet of Things, which has been approved for publication during the 26th BEREC plenary in Rotterdam on 25 February 2016.
