Peter Alexiadis
Visiting Professor, King's College Research Fellow, CERREPeter Alexiadis is a Visiting Scholar at the Catholic University of Lille and at the KEDGE Business School in Paris, and a Visiting Professor at King’s College in London, where he teaches a range of competition law and regulatory policy courses. Peter is also currently a Research Fellow at the Center for European Regulation (CERRE), has served for decades as an Advisor to the International Institute of Communications (IIC) and is the Senior Editor of two leading legal journals (the IBA’s International Business Lawyer and the Utilities Law Review). He also participates in the work of GIDE (the Global Initiative for Digital Empowerment).
Peter was also a private practitioner in Brussels for well over three decades and was a recommended counsel in competition policy, regulatory policy in network sectors and intellectual property among all relevant peer publications, having also served for many years as the Partner-in-Charge of the Brussels office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP. His particular areas of expertise in competition law are abuses of market power and merger control, and the intersection of intellectual property rights with those disciplines.
In the field of regulatory policy, he has long been considered a thought leader on matters relating to electronic communications and digital platforms; in this capacity, he has counselled governments and regulators around the world on the developments of new laws and governance structures in the TMT field (including regulators in Ireland, Greece, Romania, Hungary, Cyprus, San Marino, Jordan, Turkey, Egypt, Japan, Bahrain and Malaysia).
Mr Alexiadis has been the Study Leader in a number of milestone studies for the European Commission’s DG Connect and has served as external counsel to DG Competition’s telecommunications unit. Peter has advised various competition and regulatory agencies around the world, including acting as an external advisor to the OECD. He is a prolific writer and delivers policy presentations around the world at various international fora on competition issues and policy directions for regulated network sectors. He is also a regular lecturer at the College of Europe/European Commission summer programmes for Asian and African Competition Authorities.
