Benjamin Schwarz
President Greening of StreamingBen Schwarz brings more than two decades of strategic insight across technology, media, and sustainability. After a decade in IT at Logica CMG, he became CTO of a pioneering music start-up at the height of the internet revolution, before joining Orange for nearly a decade, where he played a central role in the operator's shift toward digital media, including the launch of IPTV and other internet-based services.
Since 2008, Ben has worked independently with clients worldwide, advising on strategy, business development, communications, and technology. He has authored over a dozen influential industry white papers and is a regular contributor to trade discussions and sector blogs.
Ben has been active in trade organisations since 2015 and is President of Greening of Streaming — an independent, member-driven NGO dedicated to making the environmental impact of streaming measurable, comparable, and policy-relevant. Under his leadership, GoS runs the REM (Remote Energy Measurement) platform, conducts real-device hackathons, and has recently launched OWL (Online WattLab), a live measurement bench that turns streaming and AI workloads (video transcoding, LLM inference, image generation) into real wall-power readings on real hardware.
A long-standing sustainability advocate, Ben's approach is rooted in engineering realism: if it can't be measured, it shouldn't be asserted. Based in Paris.
