Christoph Mertens

Co-chair of the Open Internet Working Group
Christoph Mertens joined the German regulatory authority Bundesnetzagentur (BNetzA) in 1998. He is active in the areas of Net Neutrality, Platform Monitoring, and Artificial Intelligence. Previously, he was also active in the areas of Internet Economics and Telecommunications Regulatory Policy. Before Co-chairing the Open Internet Working Group, Christoph was active in the former Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications Working Groups related to Next Generation Networks, Next Generation Access, and Voice over IP.
Christoph Mertens holds a degree from the University of Paderborn, Germany (Diplom Volkswirt) and a Master's in Law & Economics from the Universities of Rotterdam, Ghent, and Hamburg.
